No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for streamlined underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now offer streamlined underwriting: applicants within age and benefit limits are approved using the application, pharmacy records, driving history and other data instead of an exam. Many approvals come back within hours. Each quote shows whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required.
What it changes
Streamlined paths do not skip underwriting. Your answers get verified; a policy issued on false information can be contested in the first two years. If the carrier's data finds issues, they may still order labs or an exam; you decide at that point whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants under approximately 60, applying for amounts within the carrier's streamlined path, with no major health events and no tobacco use within the past year or more. Recent medical records with lab work can substitute for an exam at some carriers.
An exam, if required, consists of a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Fontana area, free of charge. Good health can move you to a better rate class during the exam, so undergoing one is not necessarily a drawback.
